| Descripción : | This document describes the project titled "Analysis, Design, and Implementation of an FTP Server," carried out by students from the Rumiñahui University Technological Institute as a graduation project to obtain the title of Higher Technician in Networks and Information Security. The primary objective is to design a secure and efficient FTP server that facilitates file transfer between systems while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. The project arose in response to current inefficiencies in FTP servers—specifically issues regarding speed and security—particularly in networks with multiple users and large volumes of data. The document begins with an analysis of the historical background of FTP, tracing its evolution since the 1970s, and outlines current challenges, such as the need for encryption and robust authentication. Subsequently, the server's design and implementation are detailed, involving the selection of appropriate software and hardware with an emphasis on security through FTPS and SFTP. Tests are also conducted to ensure the server functions correctly in terms of both performance and security. The project has not only a technical impact but also an academic one, as it improves access to information and collaboration between students and faculty at the institute. Furthermore, the importance of the generated documentation for future research and projects is highlighted. The document concludes with recommendations for optimizing the use of the FTP server in small and medium-sized environments, ensuring proper data management and protection. |
