| Descripción : | The following study analyzes the factors that affect the permanence in service within the Good Shepherd Bible Church in Cayambe, considering spiritual, emotional and social factors. The investigation comes from a concern over the reduction of ministerial commitment from the servants which affects the continuing ecclesiastical work and development of the Christian community. To approach this problem, a mixed focus was used. In the quantitative phase. 80 members of the church were given a Likert structured survey with the objective of measuring factors such as motivation, ministerial exhaustion and perception of support received. In the qualitative phase, five ministry leaders were interviewed in a semi structural method. They contributed detailed information about the challenges faced by those who serve and the strategies implemented to encourage their permanence in ministry. The results of the study reveal that spiritual exhaustion, lack of discipleship and discouragement are the principal factors the affect the continuation of service. In the same way, responsibilities within the family and place of work, lack of recognition and the lack of opportunity for formation contribute to the desertion of the ministry. The evidence shows that those who serve who receive pastoral participation, mentoring and continual training present a greater disposition to staying active in their labors within the church. As a result of these findings, a programs of spiritual formation, mentoring, and integrated community activities were recommended with the purpose of strengthening the motivation and feeling of permanence within those who serve. In addition, a greater distribution of tasks and the establishment of systems for emotional support were recommended to avoid spiritual exhaustion and fatigue. The conclusion was reached that encouraging an environment of support, development and spiritual development within the church is fundamental to guaranteeing the faithfulness and commitment to the ministerial calling which promotes a more solid and committed ecclesiastical community |
